WAMA CAMP FAQS
What is Wildwood’s mission?
“Wildwood Park for the Arts enriches the lives of Arkansans of all ages by creating community through nature and the arts.
What if my camper loses or forgets items at camp?
We collect any items we find each week in the Lost & Found in our administrative offices. If you arrive home and realize something is missing, call and let us know! We keep lost and found items for six weeks before donating them.
Wildwood is not responsible for any items that are lost or damaged while at camp. Campers are also responsible for keeping up with their own items. Please do not send anything with your camper that is irreplaceable or would be devastating to get dirty.
Can you accommodate campers with special needs?
Our counselors generally are not trained with the specific skills required to work with children with special needs. Exceptions can be made after we consult with the child’s parents and doctors. Your registration paperwork will include a section to let us know about any medications or needs your child has while at camp. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to us, and we will do our best to work with you to make your child’s camp experience the best it can be.
Is financial assistance available?
Wildwood offers some limited scholarship funds to help children of single parents or from low-income families. For scholarship information, please email our Executive Director, Dr. Bevan Keating, bevan@wildwoodpark.org.
How much is a week of camp?
Registration ($50) and Tuition Fees ($200) are due no later than the first day of the session your student is attending, and can be paid with cash, credit or debit card, or by check made out to Wildwood Park for the Arts with your student’s name and WAMA session in the memo line. Registration Fees are nonrefundable.
In the event that WAMA sessions are canceled due to state directives regarding health concerns related to COVID-19, Tuition Fees will be fully refundable.
Is there a transportation option?
No. All campers must be picked up and dropped off at Wildwood Park for the Arts.
What ages can attend Wildwood day camps?
WAMA Camps are for campers who are ages 6-12. Campers will be split into smaller groups based on relative age.
How many sessions of camp can I sign up for?
Wildwood’s Arts & Nature Camp is offered for 2 weeks this summer, the weeks of June 6th and June 13th. Our Visual Arts & Nature Camp is offered for the week of June 20th. Sign up for one session, two sessions, or all three!
Does WAMA Camp include meals?
Wildwood Park for the Arts does not provide meals, and only provides limited “special occasion” snacks. Each camper will be required to bring a lunch and two snacks. No nut products, and nothing that must be refrigerated or heated, please!
What should I bring?
All Day Camp campers should bring a personal bag with lunch, two snacks, a water bottle, sunscreen, sturdy shoes, and a smock for arts and crafts each day. They also might want to bring bug repellent, a hat, and extra clothes just in case.
Electronics, knives & weapons, expensive or nice clothing, and pets should be left at home, please!
What time is drop-off and pick-up?
Drop off for all day camp programs is between 8:30 am and 9:00 am. Pickup is from 3:00 pm to 3:30 pm.
