EDUCATION PROGRAMS

With more than three year-round education programs reaching more than 35,000 annually statewide, Wildwood is a leader in arts education. The following programs provide an array of activities:

  • Art-to-Go School Tour

Each year Wildwood Park takes a fully staged professional play with music to elementary schools across the state. Our original productions come to your school or community theatre ready to go with entertaining and distinct arts education content. A comprehensive study guide noting state educational standards is also provided for teachers in advance of the production.

Teachers or Principals wishing to book next year’s tour should contact Educational Programs CoordinatorJudi Casavechia at 501-821-7275 ext 225 or e-mail your request to judi@wildwoodpark.org.

Art-to-Go is supported though the Arkansas Arts Councils Arts on Tour Program.

  • The Metropolitan Opera Auditions

The Metropolitan Opera Auditions are held at Wildwood annually. Auditions are open to the public. Dates of the 09 auditions will be posted as soon as they are announced.

  • Children’s Festival Programming

Most festivals at Wildwood Park contain educational components relative to the festival theme. Activities bring to life the subject and nature of the festival. From learning phrases in a foreign language to planting seeds, young and old alike will experience our festivals in a new way.

  • Summer Camps

    Summer Fun at Wildwood Park

Camps for elementary aged children, explore a variety of arts through activities based in the theme of the camp. 2010 brought “Let’s Go Buggy” and “Let’s Rock”. The Park is expanding its camps to middle school aged children. In-School Residency Program

Wildwood Park and neighboring Chenal Elementary are partners in a year-long, In-School Residency partnership supported by the Arkansas Arts Council. Students, kindergarten through fifth-grade,experience a curriculum of creative expression and environmental awareness with explorations through history, literature, music, visual art, world cultures and science.

Arts in Education artist are in residence throughout the year and work alongside Chenal’s teachers to incorporate the arts and sciences through a cross curricular approach, expanding the school’s campus into outdoor classes at Wildwood Park.

The In-School Residency, during the 2010-2011 school year, is a pilot program from which future residencies and arts education can flourish. The success of this first year residency provides a model for development of future educational outreach activities for Wildwood Park with other schools and for Chenal Elementary and other arts organizations.
